Romney - Mistake or On Purpose...

I expect the GOP to start casually trying to confuse these two people as a political maneuver. Sad. Obama or Osama

Plastics in the Pacific

I ran across this article, which is quite disturbing. The Pacific Ocean is vast and relatively untouched - except for a floating mess of plastic that is about TWICE the size of Texas - State of Plastic. This is a disgusting look at the damage we are doing to the earth.

Quote "In reality, the rogue bag would float into a sewer, follow the storm drain to the ocean, then make its way to the so-called Great Pacific Garbage Patch - a heap of debris floating in the Pacific that's twice the size of Texas, according to marine biologists.
The enormous stew of trash - which consists of 80 percent plastics and weighs some 3.5 million tons, say oceanographers - floats where few people ever travel, in a no-man's land between San Francisco and Hawaii"

.....lovely. I'm sure nothing will get done until the ocean's currents shift as a result of global warming and this heap of trash ends up on the Hawaiian beaches.

Koetter Interview

Since he recruited most of the players that are now 7-0 and ranked #8 in the BCS poll, you would think he would at least mention the kids and say how proud he is of them. But of course not, this is Dirk Koetter we are talking about. It is about me and the money - very classy guy that Koetter - Koetter Interview

Questions to ask the GOP Candidates

Just for fun:

1.) “Would you have sex with a man to stop a terrorist attack?”

2.) “If lowering taxes results in increased revenues then would lowering taxes to zero result in infinite revenues?”

3.) “If you had a time machine, would you travel back in time and abort Bin Laden?”

4.) “Would you torture and kill Jesus to ensure mankind’s salvation? And how does that work?”

5.) For Rudy specifically: “How many alimony checks does the sanctity of marriage cost?”

Iraq War - Oil for the West - Permanent US Bases

I think most people agree that the Iraq war has been a fiasco, disaster, etc. However, another point of view is to - and this could be very wrong because it gives credit to Bush/Cheney - declare the invasion a victory in terms that we are now establishing a massive embassy ( US Embassy in Iraq ) and huge US presence for the next few decades. This war when broken down this way is really all about oil. If that was not the case, than there would be no reason to create these huge permanent structures. Are we just going to hand over these massive and expensive bases to the Iraqis once they ask for them? No. And therein lies the problem.

Here is a great article that talks about this very topic - Mission Accomplished!. I would like to hear any of the current candidates actually say that when we pull out our troops, we are pulling them all out and handing over these massive billion dollar facilities to the Iraqis - which is just crazy. Well, at least have trillions of dollars of oil in Iraq (buy oil stocks now), which may prevent drilling in Alaska..glass half full! Thoughts?

Three Sheets with Zane Lamprey

So I ran across this TV show (overview video above) on one of the Comcast HD channels a while back. It is hilarious. Basically, this comedian goes around the world and just drinks with the locals...what a career. Anyways, I know most people have probably not seen the show, but I do reccomend watching it if you get the chance. Although Jen would like to say she doesn't like the show, she laughs every time.

Hillary - More of the Same

I am one who is open-minded when it comes to choosing political candidates, but I find it harder and harder to even consider Hillary for the nomination. I think we would see much of the same secrecy and arrogance that we have seen from the Bush administration.

I have never been opposed to voting for a Republican (would have voted for McCain over Gore if he beat Bush in the primaries), but this crop of GOP nominees really leaves something to be desired. Romney...will say anything to get elected. Giuliani...megalomaniac who would just be scary as president. Thompson.....clueless (thinks Hezbollah is in Afghanistan). etc.

That being said, it looks like Hillary is on track to be the Democratic nominee. You see glimpses of her arrogance in situations like this - Link to Article. The thought of an Hillary vs. Giuliani race prompted me to link to - How to Apply for Canadian Citizenship.

Mountain Gorillas In Danger

The ongoing war in the Congo region has been a constant threat to the mountain gorillas, of which, only 700 still survive in the wild. Link to Gorilla Article. I know we cannot save every endangered animal around the world by getting involved in regional conflicts, but it is a sad fact that the next generation may be without a lot of keystone species around the world.

ASU Midseason Report

I think all of us still have no idea how good ASU football really is...but I'll take 6-0. People say we haven't played anybody yet, but it seems like this year more so than other years, any team can get beat at any time. We pummel Stanford 41-3 and then they come back and beat USC (at USC) the following week. We beat up on Colorado and then they turn around and knock off Oklahoma. It is crazy this year and I am hoping for at least a 6-3 Pac 10 record - what is everyone else's prediction? Here is the mid season report card for the football team. Maz Jobrani (Osama jokes)

In a time when it seems like middle eastern cultures get quite a bit of the blame for everything that is going wrong in the world, it is nice to watch a little video from a middle eastern comedian - this guy is pretty funny.
